Thompson M1
The M1A1 1928 "Tommy Gun", is a delayed blowback submachine gun. The Thompson was initially marketed to local police departments and to the military. However, there were few buyers due to the high cost. The Thompson was next marketed to civilians and the weapon became popular with depression-era gangsters in the USA. Used extensively in World War II by the US Marines and British Commandos and Paratroops in hit-and-run type raids. Heavy by modern standards as it is machined from a solid block of steel, rather than the lighter pressed steel construction used in more recent small arms. - Weight: 4.82 kg (empty)
